The Spruce Grove Saints are back in the win column after securing a 3-1 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks in a tightly contested matchup on Saturday night.
The game opened with Oscar Wu scoring in the first period to give Spruce Grove a 1-0 lead. Wu’s goal set the tone early, with the Saints applying consistent pressure through the opening frame.
The second period turned into a defensive showdown. Both teams locked down their zones, with neither able to generate significant offensive chances, leaving the Saints clinging to their one-goal advantage heading into the third.
The Bucks broke through early in the final period, tying the game 1-1 and shifting the momentum momentarily in their favor. However, the Saints responded quickly, fueled by a determined effort from Matheson Mason, who notched his first goal since returning from injury to restore the lead at 2-1.
James Richards sealed the deal for the Saints late in the game, scoring his third goal in as many contests to cap off the 3-1 win.
