The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce 20-year-old defenceman Tanner Dawkins has committed to the Simon Fraser Red Leafs (SFU) who compete against NCAA, USports, ACAC and ACHA teams throughout North America as a non-conference independent team.
Rob Sklaruk, General Manager of the Saints spoke of the departing Assistant captain. “Tanner is passionate, dedicated and selfless young man. Watching him develop on and off the ice over the last two seasons has been rewarding for me and the entire organization. I wish Tanner the best of luck in both hockey and his education.”

The 5’11”, 170-pound right shot defender spoke about his recent commitment.
“Getting traded to Saints was the best thing that happened to me. I really enjoyed my time in Spruce Grove. From my teammates and billets to the fans and staff, I couldn’t imagine a better place to play junior hockey. I am extremely excited to start my academic and athletic career close to my home at SFU. I can’t thank the Saints enough for their help and guidance.”
